About
Us

Born on Colorado's tailwaters. Built for the anglers who fish them. Two locations, one mission — be the shop we always wished existed.

"We started with one goal: be the shop we always wished existed — knowledgeable staff, honest advice, and the best gear for our local waters."
— The Peak Fly Shop

Built on
Local Waters

The Peak Fly Shop was born from a love of Colorado's world-class tailwaters. We started with one goal: be the shop we always wished existed — knowledgeable staff, honest advice, and the best gear for our local waters.

Today we operate two locations — Colorado Springs and Woodland Park — serving Front Range anglers and visitors from around the world. We fish these rivers ourselves. Every hatch report, every fly recommendation, every guide trip is built on firsthand experience.

The South Platte. Eleven Mile Canyon. The Dream Stream. The Arkansas. These aren't just rivers to us — they're our backyard.

Days of Fishing Per Year

Colorado tailwaters fish year-round. So do our guides. No off-season for river reports or guide trips.

Our Mission

"To grow the sport of fly fishing in Colorado by providing expert guidance, premium gear, and daily intelligence on the waters we all love."

Four Things That Set Us Apart

We don't claim to be the biggest. We just aim to be the most useful to you on the water.

🎣
We Fish Here
Our staff and guides are on the water every week. When we recommend a fly, we've caught fish on it. When we say conditions are excellent, one of us was there this morning. There is no substitute for firsthand knowledge of local water.
Our guides collectively log 200+ days on the South Platte and Arkansas each year.
📍
Both Locations for Your Needs
Colorado Springs for gearing up — a full shop with everything you need to outfit a trip from scratch. Woodland Park for a quick stop before hitting the South Platte — perfectly positioned on US-24, minutes from Deckers and Eleven Mile Canyon. Two shops, one team.
Woodland Park: 301 US-24 — on your way to the river, not out of the way.
🤝
No Pressure, Ever
We're here to help, not to upsell. Ask us anything — what rod to buy, what flies are working, whether you should fish Deckers or Cheesman, whether the drive is worth it this weekend. You'll get a straight answer from someone who was probably out there yesterday.
Walk in, ask away. We'd rather you catch fish than spend money on the wrong gear.

The Waters We Call Home

We don't just sell gear for these rivers — we guide them, report on them daily, and care deeply about their health and future.

🏔
South Platte
Deckers · Cheesman · Eleven Mile
Colorado's most celebrated tailwater. Technical, demanding, and endlessly rewarding. Our home water — we know every run.
🌊
Dream Stream
Spinney to Eleven Mile Reservoir
Big fish in open meadow water. Sight-fishing opportunities and some of the largest trout in Colorado.
🪨
Eleven Mile Canyon
Park County, CO
Intimate canyon fishing. Tight drifts, wild rainbows, and long leaders. Beautiful water that rewards patience.
🏞
Arkansas River
Pueblo · Royal Gorge Area
Colorado's most diverse tailwater. Wade or float. Excellent stonefly and streamer fishing throughout the season.

Committed to the Rivers We Fish

We are committed to the rivers we fish. That means more than just selling gear — it means being responsible stewards of the water, the fish, and the access that makes Colorado fly fishing possible for all of us.

We support Leave No Trace principles, catch-and-release practices, and local conservation efforts on the South Platte and Arkansas drainages. When we guide, we teach the next generation of anglers to protect what they love.

Stewardship Starts on the Water

Every guided trip is also an opportunity to model the right behavior — proper fish handling, respectful wading, leave-no-trace camp practices, and an appreciation for the ecosystems that make all of this possible.

When you book a trip with us, you're fishing with guides who genuinely love these rivers. They'll put you on fish — and they'll make sure the next angler finds them there too.

Meet the Team

Every person on our staff fishes our local waters. When we say the South Platte is fishing well, one of us was there yesterday.

We fish and guide the South Platte system — Deckers, Cheesman Canyon, Eleven Mile Canyon, and the Dream Stream — plus the Arkansas River. Our Stream Flows page shows live flow and water data for all of them, straight from USGS and Colorado DWR gauges.

Yes. Guided wade trips run from $350 for a half day and $495 for a full day (1–3 anglers), and we host annual destination trips to places like Patagonian Chile. We also teach an Introduction to Fly Fishing class ($250) and an Introduction to Fly Tying class ($85), with all equipment provided.
